Habitat for Humanity of St. Joseph County Response to Coronavirus (Covid-19)

At Habitat for Humanity of St. Joseph County one of our greatest priorities is to keep our volunteers, customers, homeowners and employees safe.  As we take proactive steps to minimize the health impacts of coronavirus (covid-19) we will update this page with the latest information about our affiliate’s actions.

Leading health experts recommend we all practice “social distancing” to minimize contact and prevent the spread of the virus.  Therefore, Habitat for Humanity of St. Joseph County has postponed non-essential face-to-face meetings and prioritized the cleaning and sanitizing of work and retail spaces.

Our community is resilient, and we will come back stronger with an even greater passion to bring people together to build homes, communities and hope!  And when we get on the other side of this crisis, please remember the many nonprofits who will need your financial support more than ever to continue serving the less fortunate in our community.

Habitat Families

We have reached out to all former and current Habitat families to determine their needs.  We have mortgage solutions in place for any families who lose their jobs or have their hours reduced at work.

We are accepting volunteers back on the construction site and ReStores at reduced numbers

ReStore Operations

Both stores have now re-opened. Masks are required per the mandate.

Office & Construction Staff

Our main office is closed to the general public and we have asked staff to work from home for the time being.  Our Aging in Place program has been placed on hold.  New construction projects are being continued by construction staff and trades professionals only and social distancing is being emphasized.

All Habitat for Humanity of St. Joseph County events scheduled for summer 2020 have been postponed or rescheduled.
