Restore Team Member

JOB SUMMARY

Habitat for Humanity ReStore’s are nonprofit home improvement stores and donation centers that sell new and gently used furniture, home accessories, building materials, and appliances to the public at a fraction of the retail price. All proceeds generated are used by Habitat for Humanity of St. Joseph County to build more homes within our local communities. Team Members report to the Restore Manager of Habitat for Humanity of St Joseph County. Employees in this position are responsible for day-to-day retail related responsibilities and operations.

Skills requirements: (i.e. Language, Mathematical, Reasoning, Other) Knowledge of retail operations and experience working in a retail building supply environment.  Financial, analytical and organizational skills, Communication Skills, Marketing, Sales, Knowledge of and ability to follow best practice and procedures related to retail and ability to use current computer applications and retail technologies.

Interactions: The persons in this position will interact with the general public and all levels of management.  It will be necessary for this position to communicate effectively via various modes of communication (face-to-face, phone, email, fax, etc.)

Working Conditions: Individual will be working in a warehouse and retail outlet.  Subject to heat, cold and dust.  Light to Heavy lifting required.

Planning & Leadership Impact: The position provides support and leadership (non-management) to ReStore volunteers.

Education/ Job requirements: High school diploma preferred but not required.  Experience in retail, marketing, sales, construction or any combination of education and experience necessary to complete these functions is required.  Must have a clean driving record and be able to operate a vehicle.

  2. Positive attitude.
  3. Demonstrated knowledge and skill in retail environment.
  4. At least three years of retail experience.
  5. Experience in retail marketing, e-commerce and advertising.
  6. Willingness to work weekends and evenings.
  7. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  8. Excellent organization skills.
  9. Ability to meet deadlines, execute work plan, and correctly/completely accomplish all work.
  10. Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

 

JOB DUTIES

  1. Operate cash register
  2. Update computerized inventory system
  3. Assist store customers
  4. Pick-ups and drop-offs as necessary or needed
  5. Maintain store: Clean shelves and retail displays and restock merchandise as needed
  6. Process donated inventory
  7. Provide support to ReStore director, as needed.
