Flying Roof

First Roof Completed at Build Site
November 9, 2017

Habitat for Humanity of St. Joseph County has tested out the latest technique that will be implemented for installing rooftops during the 2018 Jimmy and Rosalyn Carter Work Project.  Each of the one-story level homes roofs will be installed using the “Flying Roof” method. This method allows staff and volunteers to assemble the roof safely at ground level before it is placed atop of the existing home structure. Once placed, the roof is permanently secured.
