South Bend, Ind. – On Tuesday, June 7th Hope Ministries announced that they received a large furniture donation from the Habitat for Humanity of St. Joseph County ReStore. The $20,000 donation from the Habitat ReStore will assist Hope’s transitional housing program by updating the storage in each resident’s room and ease the residents’ transition to their new independent living arrangements.

Hope Ministries and Habitat both serve St. Joseph County through programs that help people get back on their feet. Hope’s transitional housing program cares for individuals and families who are homeless, giving them meals and shelter for up to 24 months while they participate in addiction recovery classes along with counseling that guides them through healing from past wounds. Habitat serves families and individuals who are ready for affordable homeownership and coordinates volunteers to help build homes for their clients.

Habitat staff reached out to Hope to initiate the donation. Paul Kirk, Habitat’s Director of Donor and Community Relations says, “Habitat for Humanity of St. Joseph County is excited to collaborate with Hope Ministries in order to serve a demographic in which we rarely have the opportunity to work with: the homeless. We would especially like to thank IRN, Ceva Logistics, Bargain Books, and the ReStore Staff as this project would not have been possible without the extraordinary generosity of these organizations.”

  1. I recently fell victim to the flooding two weeks ago. I of course don’t have flood insurance (why would i), however it would be a relief to know that a Non-for profit company such as Habitat for Humanity could give Back to the community in which it has become so famous in. I applaud your efforts with the HOPE mission. I would like to see Habitat for Humanity give us home owners that fell victim to this disaster, much needed relief if not in donations, possibly a percentage at the store level.

    Thank you
