“We had so much fun hosting the Carter Work Project in 2018, we decided to do it again! We built 25 houses in Phase I of the Fields at Highland subdivision and plan to build an additional 22 houses in Phase II. Come join thousands of other volunteers the week of September 20-24, 2021 to help more Habitat families build strength, stability and self-reliance through affordable housing.” – Jim Williams, President & CEO
Habitat Work Project
Habitat for Humanity of St. Joseph County, Indiana is hosting a week-long Habitat Work Project as a follow-up to the 2018 Carter Work Project. The build will take place September 20-24, 2021 at the same site (Fields at Highland subdivision at the corner of Jefferson and Byrkit in Mishawaka, Indiana). Our three main goals:
– Build 22 new, single-family homes and a neighborhood park at the Fields at Highland subdivision in Mishawaka. Up to 12 of the homes and the park will be worked on the week of September 20-24, 2021.
– Complete up to 30 owner-occupied critical home repairs in South Bend through our Aging in Place program for seniors and our Veterans Repair Program.
– Support Habitat International’s 5-year “Cost of Home Advocacy Campaign” to help bring awareness to the need to influence policy and systems at the local, state and national levels to increase housing affordability.
