Mishawaka, IN (July 19th, 2016) – We are thrilled that Habitat for Humanity of St. Joseph County just closed our first home loan for a military veteran. This closing is a promising start to our Veteran’s Initiative, where we work to provide affordable housing solutions to military veteran families and individuals in need.

This first home belongs to Navy veteran Sireana and her daughter. Sireana was accepted into the Habitat Homeownership Program in October 2015, and since then she has completed her homeowner preparedness classes, financial savings plan, and 250 sweat equity hours. After her hard work, she will be paying an affordable, interest-free mortgage on a brand new home. Move-in is scheduled for this week.
