Ready to change a life?

As an individual, there are two main roles for the Vera Z. Dwyer Women Build: · Team Leader – Team leaders are the first to sign up to participate and recruit a team of 4 (including yourself) as builders. You are the primary resource for information and details for your team. · Builder – Builders are the team members that make up each team. Builders each commit a minimum of $250 (or $1000 per team) to help fund the project and you’ll volunteer with your team on build day.

Corporate sponsors are encouraged to support through sponsorships of the Women Build luncheon. But different from the past, volunteer slots will be reserved for teams of 4 who meet fundraising goals.

Our goal this year is to recruit 20 teams of 4 women each.

Each team must commit a minimum of $1000. But that’s just the minimum. The sky is the limit. You can host your own fundraisers, bake sales and other fun events to boast the competition and be the team to raise most money for the Vera Z. Dwyer Women Build.

Teams fundraise from now through June 30th. Then each team will be assigned a build day sometime in mid-August through October. That’s your day to shine. We bring the tools, materials, and safety training. You bring the energy.

When you volunteer, we want to make sure you’re dressed safely and comfortably. · Wear weather appropriate layers · Sturdy pants recommended (shorts are okay, too) · Hard sole, sturdy shoes that you don’t mind getting dirty. Absolutely no open-toe shoes or sandals allowed · Long hair must be secured Gear such as safety glasses, gloves, ear plugs, dust masks, and hard hats are available and will be provided when necessary.

Yes, we build in the rain. Please be sure to wear weather appropriate clothing. If the weather becomes too difficult or dangerous to work, the Construction Team will adjust as necessary.

Absolutely. There is no construction experience necessary. And some of our projects require no measuring tape or power-tools. Think paint, laying sod, and hammering nails. We accept all skill levels, and everyone is useful on a build site.
